What is Bishopbriggs Youth Cafe?

Bishopbriggs Youth Cafe is an organisation ran by volunteers from Bishopbriggs Community Church to offer a place for young people to hang out on a Friday night. It has been going strong since April 2008 and has really improved greatly over time. Currently, the Youth Cafe has a Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, Nintendo Gamecube, Table Football and Dodgeball is offered in one of the church halls. Food is also served within the cafe. Paninis and Burgers are the only type of hot food available. Muffins, Biscuits, Lollipops, Cookies, Donuts, Crisps and Ice-Cream are also available as well as a range of drinks.

Why does the Youth Cafe need donations?

Bishopbriggs Youth Cafe is not perfect and could do with some donations to help it become the best place in Bishopbriggs to hang out on Friday nights. Firstly, we could really do with some new furniture and flooring as the couches are very basic and the carpet is disgusting. We could also use some of the money to offer a wider range of physical activities such as buying Football nets for the better weather, Skate ramps, Table Tenis courts and Snooker tables. Despite the fact there is a Wii and PS3 in the cafe, they both lack games. The Bishopbriggs Gamers recently tried to address this issue and started a game fund which raised an outstanding £59.61 allowing us to buy two new PS3 games. Jamie Davies, the owner of the Youth Cafe is also hoping with extra funding that new facilities could happen in the not too distant future. We could raise money at the marathons to help contribute to the costs. In conclusion, we hope you see that the Youth Cafe is in need of your money to help it with it's good aim: to keep the young people off the streets and let them have a fun Friday night.
